Water Intrusion Solutions
Last month we helped a customer and his family with a water intrusion solution. The issue we diagnosed was poor grading when the previous owner enclosed a carport to make it into a bonus room. Rainwater would flow through the blocks and onto the new floors during every heavy rain event.
Our drainage team excavated down to the footer, water proofed the wall, and installed a 4” PVC curtain drain. We dug back the area behind the structure to pull water away from the exterior wall of the house as well as to give the family more easily accessible outdoor storage space. We installed a dry stack retaining wall with a french drain behind it to carry water from the hillside. The result is a beautiful entrance to the rear yard and to the rear of the home.
Water intrusion solutions can be tricky. Downspout drain lines, french drains, catch basins, swales, and retaining walls among other options are all tools in our tool box.
